Climate
RajasthanThe climate of Rajasthan can be divided into four seasons: Pre-Monsoons, Monsoon, Post-Monsoon and Winter.

Pre-monsoon, which extends from April to June, is the hottest season, with temperatures ranging from 32oC to 45oC. In western Rajasthan the temp may rise to 48C, particularly in May and June. At this time, Rajasthan only hill station, Mt Abu registers the lowest temperatures. In the desert regions, the temperatures drops in night. Prevailing winds are from the west and sometimes carry dust storms (we call them andhi).

The second season Monsoon extends from July to September, temp drops but humidity increases making it very un comfortable, even when there is slight drop in the temp (35oC to 40oC). We have about 90% of our rains in this period.

RajasthanThe Post-monsoon period is from Oct to December. The average maximum temperature is 33oC to 38oC, and the minimum is between 18oC and 20oC.

The fourth season is the winter or cold season, from January to March. There is a marked variation in maximum and minimum temperatures, and regional variations across the state. January is the coolest month of the year. And temp may drop to 0oC in some cities of Rajasthan, like Churu. There is slight precipitation in the north and north-eastern region of the state, and light winds, predominantly from the north and north-east. At this time, relative humidity ranges from 50% to 60% in the morning, and 25% to 35% in the afternoon.

Best Time To Visit Rajasthan
Even though Rajasthan is a place visited throughout the year, the best time to visit Rajasthan is during winters. Mid October to mid March is the peak season for Rajasthan. The reason for this is that the climatic conditions in Rajasthan are quite extreme. Another reason is that all the major fairs and festivals of Rajasthan are celebrated around this time only.

Rajasthan is well connected with the Railway network with in the state and also with important cities of India by regular train services of Indian Railways. The class of accommodation in trains ranges from ordinary sleeper class to comfortable AC class. Major railway junction in Rajasthan are Jaipur, Jodhpur, Ajmer, Sawai Madhopur and Kota. Most of the regions of the state are both served by meter gauge as well as broad gauge railway line.

The train runs from Delhi to Alwar between the months of October and February within its specified dates. The train tour offers a chance to visit the Siliserh Palace, Alwar Museum. During the journey, one can also enjoy a jungle safari in the Sariska Wildlife Sanctuary.

This luxury train runs on the joint effort of the Rajasthani Tourist Development Corporation and the Indian Railways. It has 14 fully air-conditioned coaches with a capacity of 104 seats. Each saloon has four bedrooms with two bathrooms on sharing basis. It has one bar and two restaurants named Maharaja and Maharani offering a variety of cuisines including the traditional Rajasthani. It covers a number of beautiful destinations of Rajasthan including the unspoilt regions of Bikaner and Shekhawati.

By Road :
Rajasthan is well connected to some of the major cities in and around by a good network of roadways. Rajasthan government and private buses connect almost all parts of Rajasthan. There are regular bus services to major Indian cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Agra, Aurangabad and Ahmedabad. There are four National Highway i.e. Delhi-Ahmedabad(No.8), Agra-Bikaner(No.11), Bhatinda-Kandala(No.15) and Jaipur-Bhopal(No.12) pass through Rajasthan. All districts and towns have direct bus services to the capital city Jaipur.

Local Transport :
The major local transport means are buses, taxis, auto-rickshaws, tempos & cycle rickshaws. There are several local bus networks in most major towns. Hired taxis and auto-rickshaws are available from any part of the state, which are convenient for travelling within the state.
