About Kishangarh
Located in the center of Rajasthan, Kishangarh is named after Maharaja Kishan Singh who founded the town in 1611 AD. A rich storehouse of marbles, the main attractions in Kishangarh are its Fort and Phool Mahal, which is now converted into a heritage hotel. The town is located about 27 km from Ajmer and has one of India's most famous schools of miniature paintings. One of the most famous renowned paintings is that of Krishna's consort Radha, who is depicted as a beautiful woman with enchanting almond eyes. Kishangarh is also famous for Bani Thani Paintings. The artist of this school favored evening lights and gray skies with fine colors. This outstanding school lasted only a few decades. Today the artists still create duplicates of the work. Kishangarh is now an industrial town for marble and textiles.
